In the media, teens are mostly portrayed as rebellious people in the society. They are always shown to be neglecting school, going to parties, doing drugs, etc. This negative representation makes it seem like teenagers, as a whole, are disrespectful and problematic for the society. In most films, there would be older people who look down on the teen and make comments about their appearance or criticizing their life choices. Teens are being represented in a way that makes it seem like they’re useless in society because they don’t fit the standards set by older generations. Older generations are using technology to portray teens negatively in order to strike fear into other teens. Society created stereotypes in order to separate teens from one another. The negative portrayal along with the stereotypes are there to make teens wary of their surroundings and who they associate with when in fact, they shouldn’t have to worry about other people being different from one another because there’s always something in common to share.
