Sam Abell is an American photographer mostly known by his works for National Geographic magazine since 1970. His father, a Geography teacher, ran a photography club which drew Sam Abell to start photography. His style of photography is documentary; however, it can be interpreted into a deeper meaning.

One of his most famous photography books is Seeing Garden, which includes the photo he’s most proud of. He has mentioned many times that the photo of the tree through a Japanese window turned out to be one of his favorites because the lighting made it look like a stained glass window.

I was drawn to his works because his photographs were of real life things; however, each photograph can be interpreted on an aesthetic level. Taking simple things and reading it in a whole different meaning just fascinates me.
