Without a Paddle is a fantastic film that takes the viewer on a fantastically beautiful journey through the heart of the Pacific Northwest Forests, and at the same time supplies the audience with ample amounts of humor and earnest internal contemplation.

Without a Paddle stars Seth Green (Dan Mott), Dax Shepard (Tom Marshall), and Matthew Lillard (Jerry Conlaine) as 3 friends who, after their childhood friend dies, go on an adventure in the Oregon woods to find the treasure of the famous D.B. Cooper. While the plot seems a little stretched and outlandish at times the characters keep the movie rolling; filling the more bland and uneventful points with oddball antics and cheesy humor.

Seth Green, who is known for his work on Family Guy, Robot Chicken, and many more, utilizes his comedy experience to bring a raunchy feel to the film. If you enjoy the humor and randomness of his other work, then this film will blow you out of the water (Quite literally…with dynamite). One scene in particular where Seth Green’s influence is evident, involves Green using his inhaler as a weapon of self defense. Spraying the “assailant” with the contents. Greens humor melds seamlessly with the oddball vibes that radiate from the film.

The oddball humor stems mostly from Dax Shepard’s character Tom Marshall, an obsessive liar. His jokes are funny, but Shepard also brings a wave of seriousness, grounding the film when it begins to float to far into obscurity. When the trio is being chased by hillbilly’s they angered, Shepard is confronted on one of his numerous lies. Against a corner he confesses that his life isn’t as perfect as he made it out to be. The film maintains a sense of realism even when it takes the viewer on an ATV chase through the pacific north west woods.

Without a Paddle, if only given a chance, will not fail to bring a smile to any viewers face. The top notch comedy styles combined with the oddness of the plot creates a film that is enjoyable the whole way through.

Give Without a Paddle a chance.
