ABOUT THE MASTERCLASS
Many storytellers believe that the process of translating their personal screenplay into a viable, strategic proposal leads them to limit and compromise their unique vision. But far from it, packaging a cinematic project is one of the most exciting, challenging and inventive steps in the journey of crafting a feature film.
Packaging a script means matching separate creative, technical and logistical elements, that on their own may seem unattached, but when brought together by the proposal create a distinct strategy that marries your project with a viable production and distribution framework.
This Masterclass will focus on the practical tools and weapons that help filmmakers and novel producers develop an original package for a feature film project. We will analyze the core points in a script, dissect the story and production pitch and subvert the visual presentation. We will break down a grounded timeline and a concise budget, as well as the approach to a distribution plan.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Pedro Cristiani broke into the industry as the author of the hard sci-fi award-winning 1996 feature film MOEBIUS. From 1997 to 2008, he was a prime-time television showrunner, an advertising executive producer, and a story consultant for film and TV studios.
He is a professor at New York University: the Gallatin School of Individualized Study and a Member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. His masterclasses on genre, new forms of storytelling and production have been part of the Brussels Film Festival and the BIFAN (South Korea).
His work-in-progress feature film DEUS IRAE took over the Festival circuit winning over 20 International Awards, was showcased at the Marché du Film, on the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and took top honours as winner of the 2018 Sitges Pitchbox.
