Your profile on Filmarket Hub: the Portfolio
How to make the most of the Filmarket Hub platform
You know that at Filmarket Hub and, in this blog specifically, we will never get tired of repeating and advising you about good practices to keep improving and helping you to make your projects and user profile stand out on our online market. That’s why today I’m writing again about it; in this case we’re going to go through a section many users of the platform don’t give a second thought: the portfolio.
The portfolio section is the part of your profile which works as a sort of window with the rest of users and producers, investors, distributors who browse through the website, exploring and looking for new talent cooking in the industry.
It isn’t enough with filling in your profile and uploading the projects you are developing. Working through your profile as a creative professional is also very important. You need to be able to show who’s behind the script that a producer has so much liked, but, more then that, you need to demonstrate and/or validate the idea they might’ve gotten of you, via showing your previous work.
In this portfolio example which we have here, we see how Roberto has crafted every bit of his portfolio, let’s see which are these.
Brief biography
Roberto has included a concise but clear explanation on his trajectory in the industry so far. Be it your experience in advertisement, developing web-series, TV or if you’ve worked as a crew member on shoots…you should be able to give a clear idea at a glance what are your ambitions with your future projects. The thing is there has to be a clear idea of where you are coming from and where you’r leaning towards.
Don’t forget to add the different profiles you might have on social media, such as: IMDB, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Twitter, web page, Facebook page of the project you are currently developing…in the end, it’s about enabling the PRO users to be able to explore further about you and your work, if they are compelled to do so.
Past Work— The Portfolio
This is the most important section and why we are writing this entry. As I was saying before, this is the window you open to the interior world and the rest of the industry, who are looking for new voices willing to bring to life fresh, original content that will bring something new to the table.
Summary — Practical Advice:
- Add a description of your film trajectory (or in publicity, TV, web-series…whatever you’ve worked on in terms of audiovisual). Go to the point but remember always to be yourself.
- Upload a trailer of your latest short film or the first episode of your web-series: the point is to show your best work. Let the producers get a clear idea of what type of work you do, what is your style shooting, telling stories, etc.
- Add the links to sites of interest: Linkedin, IMDB, Facebook, a personal website… the important thing is that you show everything you’ve got to offer.
- Select very well the type of material you want to show: sometimes you will find you have loads of finished projects, but usually you will have to filter them to curate the image you want to give away, like in an Instagram or LinkedIn profile.
In the end, it’s about a sort of validation in front of the industry, apart from showcasing what you have done up until now. Conquer the users who visit your page with these simple pieces of advise.
