I have to say that I love everything about this series so far. The costumes, the dialogue, the acting, everything. Nobody quite does “scandal” like Shonda, am I right?

At this point, the show has soared in popularity, and that’s not really a surprise. What will be interesting to see is the direction the next season takes.

For the first season, it starts off with an interesting premise, one that is familiar to anyone who has read romance novels. Woman meets man, they dislike each other, through some weird circumstances a relationship develops. And scandals are ev-er-y-where! But Bridgerton goes beyond the typical.

The chemistry between Simon and Daphne is palpable, and I’m not just talking about the intimacy. What really makes this show pop is the relationships and how the show was able to take a time period that might be more of a niche audience favorite (i.e. those of us who enjoy period piece movies and shows) and make it relatable to an even wider audience, almost modern day.

So by the time the sparks really start to fly, it doesn’t come across as rushed…
