Removal of NSFW category

A few weeks ago, a public event was held on the Discord Developers server in which a sneek peak of the App Directory or App Discovery was shared. This “app” will allow us verified bots to grow and make ourselves known on the platform, which is great news, but it’s not all good news…
You would expect that there would be a requirement to enable discovery, but not that there would be a requirement that it be “Your commands may not contain any harmful or bad language”.
What about that requirement?
Currently Filo has a command category dubbed as NSFW (AKA: Not Safe For Work) and this results in Filo not being eligible to join the App Directory.
Just hours after we became aware of this, we opened a Feature Request requesting that this requirement be reconsidered, since, being the most used category of commands, it is not a decision that should be taken lightly.
Yesterday the document that collects the Q&A made privately to Discord Developers was made public. In question no. 18 is our request and this has been the response:
Currently, bots with age-gated content will not be allowed on the directory (this is consistent with other discovery content on Discord, like server discovery). We appreciate the feedback from the community and will continue to explore this in the future.
Can we do something?
Not really, not if we want to join the App Directory. Giving my honest and humble personal opinion this solution is very vague and done in bad taste. I don’t know how they want to induce the future of the platform, but this is something that is making me tired every day.
Removal of the commands?
Yes, as of March 31, 2022, Filo will no longer have NSFW commands in order to comply with the aforementioned requirements.
Who knows what the future will bring, we may bring a solution as a replacement, but nothing is guaranteed.
Once again, sorry for the inconvenience caused.
