Did your invoice go to the right person? Don’t shortchange the phone call

You created the invoice. Sent out the invoice. But now you haven’t heard anything back from your main point of contact in weeks.

A lot of the advice out there, ourselves included, will say things like:

Double-check their LinkedIn profile, make sure they’re still at the company.

Try a different spelling of their email address, maybe it was listed wrong.

Look into sending a text message.

But there’s one “old fashioned” strategy that’s been forgotten about and may secretly be the fastest way to your answer.

The old school idea: Call the main line. Ask the person at the front desk to be transferred over or even say something like, “Hey, I’ve been working with (Name), haven’t heard back in awhile. Do you know if they changed roles? Left the company?”

They do a quick search. And there’s your answer. If they left the company, the person at the front desk will usually transfer you over to the new person or someone else in that department.

Super easy. Takes a minute. Saves you weeks of detective work.
