About the Jababeka Corporation
Jababeka Group was founded in 1989 by S.D. Darmono and became the first industrial estate developer to be listed on the Indonesian stock exchange in 1994. Jababeka focuses on creating industry-based real estate that is supported by commercial and residential infrastructure along with management services creating efficient and effective townships.
Their vision is to create modern cities in every province of Indonesia and to create more employment opportunities and a better life for Indonesia’s citizens. Jababeka perseveres on their journey to produce great projects in Indonesia, contributing to the country's socio-economic development, as well as improving the lives of as many people as possible. Some of the achievements of Jababeka include:
- The "100-city" project with a plan to maximize development resources for 100 independent cities, creating 100 million new jobs. The city of Cikarang is one part of the project where 1 million jobs were created.
- The city of Kota Jababeka, with 5600 hectares, became Southeast Asia's largest industrial park. Kota Jababeka consists of industrial, residential, and commercial infrastructure, public transportation, entertainment and leisure facilities maintaining space to develop and sustain the natural environment.
- Tanjung Lesung Island, an area of 1,500 hectares, became a special economic zone in 2011 and Kendal Industrial Park, 2700 hectares, is focused on developing tourism with many projects and diversified entertainment services.
Jababeka isn’t your average corporation. It targets projects for the community, actively showing a willingness to take on the responsibility of building a better society:
- Jababeka supports SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in calling for capital and increasing sales. In addition, Jababeka also supports the companies with infrastructure, repair of utilities and water for an improved standard of living.
- Social Welfare: Jababeka provides free medical services for difficult situations and assists the government in building schools and awarding scholarships to many students who couldn’t otherwise afford the education.
- Environment: Jababeka has created an 11 hectare Botanic Garden to help preserve the ecosystem, becoming a green "lung" for the area.
FinanceX was lucky enough to hold the grand opening event of our Indonesian cryptocurrency exchange at the President Lounge of the Jababeka-owned Menara Batavia building. This prestigious and luxurious venue operated by friendly staff made it clear that this was a Jababeka Group venue.
Mr. Darmono is a great supporter of FinanceX being somewhat of a mentor to our CEO and CTO, former students of President University, of which he founded. During a recent tour of Southeast Asia, Darmono invited the FinanceX leaders to his home hosting a dinner and discussing implementation of blockchain technology, and the possibility of cooperation with the Jababeka Corporation in the future.
Mr. Darmono was a special guest at the FinanceX Indonesia grand opening event addressing the crowd with a speech that attracted the attention of many guests and investors. Certainly with the vision, mission and goals of the corporation, with a special man like S.D. Darmono steering the ship, Jababeka has a bright future, not only in Indonesia, but also in Southeast Asia and beyond.
