Stop Trying to Create an Online Course to Earn a Side Income
Instead, apply the “side-income” principle
About 4 years ago, I wrote a small ebook titled — Your First Side-Income. And it is still my best-selling ebook to date.
Recently, Amazon made it possible to turn it into an audiobook. And I guess the audiobook is currently free. Just 19 minutes to listen to it. But those 19 minutes can change your financial life significantly.
When I was going through the book over again, I was impressed with the content of it. And it was a timely lesson for me also.
The core lesson is this —side incomes are not ideas-driven, they are demand-driven.
Downside of Online Courses
This is not to say you shouldn’t create an online course. However, the online course should be demand-driven. Thinking you have an idea is not the way to go.
Just because you have an audience doesn’t mean your online course will be successful either. And it doesn’t matter which social media platform it is.
Don’t assume your online course will be successful because you have a viral post about the subject. That is a sign of interest. Having people willing to pay for something like that is another issue.
