Considered to be the hottest car in the lineup already announced for the 2019 New York Auto Show, 2019 Mercedes GLC Coupe already bagged a whopping 70,000 buyers last year and it is expected to do the same this year as well.

To keep things interesting and moving like the last productive year for the same car, earlier this month Mercedes unveiled the updated 2020 version of the much loved Mercedes GLC Coupe at the Geneva International Motor Show and we got its first look this week only.

You don’t have to be a big fan of Mercedes GLC Coupe to recognise the new updated version quickly with its a bit more aggressive face with new headlight flanks and imposing grilles. Although the tail remains the same, it still features new light signatures.

Beyond the exterior and eye-catching changes, the updated Mercedes GLC Coupe has also got a power upgrade in terms of the engine, a better infotainment system, and better-advanced driver electronic aid technologies which are fully up to date.

As only the base model has been announced till now, we’ll discuss the specifications keeping in the mind the same fact. So all new GLC300 features a 2.0L Turbocharged inline 4 with 255 Pony powers and 273 Lb-ft of torque. If we compare this to the 241 Ponies and 273 Lb-ft of erstwhile 2019 model, 2020 GLC Coupe seems to be more efficient on paper, although the real EPA data is due to arrive on a later date and we can’t say anything substantial before that.

Forming the rest of under the hood machinery is 9-speed automatics and standard all-wheel drive, although it should be noted that regular GLC comes with rear wheel drive.

If in case you want to go for more power, you can always wait for the updated versions of Mercedes AMG GLC43 Coupe and Mercedes AMG GLC63 Coupe, which are still under development stage.

Coming to the interiors, the layout of the interiors in this car doesn’t seem to have changed much but we can see some new electronic toys on display in this new version of the car. Some of these exciting toys include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system. The infotainment system runs on Mercedes’ own operating system, the MBUX operating system and it can be controlled through both the touch screen as well as the touch sensors of the steering wheel. Another new feature of the system is the Apple CarPlay and Android smartphone integration with Mercedes MBUX operating system.

If we look at the electronic driver aid equipment both standard and available, these include an adaptive cruise control system that adjusts automatically depending on the traffic, steering assistant designed to keep you in your lane, automatic emergency braking system, automatic speed limit adaptation and lastly the blind spot warning system. Blind spot warning system also works by in warning you of open doors if any vehicle or cycle is approaching.

The updated GLC Coupe is scheduled to debut next month during the New York International Auto show alongside the regular GLC before reaching the showrooms for you to buy. It is just an early stage of assessment of the car, we are sure once the car is officially fully revealed we’ll be able to speculate more about it.
