Day 1090 –Rain Helper — Haibun Journey Beauty Each Day

Today’s beauty was a quiet and unplanned beauty. It was the beauty of the selflessness of my daughter in helping avoid a disaster. We set up at the Oktoberfest fair for the weekend but were besieged with rain. My tent that has only been used five times started leaking everywhere. Two spots on the roof were filling up with water and had to be pushed up every couple of minutes to dump of the water. My daughter stood on a round stool for two hours wiping water and dumping it, and adjusting my work so it wouldn’t get wet. Not once did she complain or leave her post. In fact she had to keep reminding me to check mine. She also was inventive and made something for us reach the roof with so I didn’t have to stretch so high and try to reach it with a roll of paper towels. We had to move everything from under the tables because we had 4–6 inches of standing water on the ground. My husband went out and touch a very heavy tarp and we used some rope and a lot of effort to put it up over the tent. Again my daughter helped and was just sweet about everything. My attitude was not so great.
