Day 399 –Bird Song — Haibun Journey Beauty Each Day

Today’s beauty came in the form of bird song. The first was the song of the juvenile robin. It’s loud course cries while waiting between feedings called my attention and it’s devoted mother’s. Then while up in the garage sorting glass I heard the deep voices of the geese in the neighbors pond. The final was the sweet pik, pik of the downy woodpecker. I was in the garden weeding when I heard the sound. I looked up to locate him and he landed right in front of me, on the hummingbird feeder. I was close enough to see all the details around the eyes and all his markings. He ignored me while I stood still, but flew off when I resumed gardening
