Day 513 — Scraps — Haibun Journey Beauty Each Day

Today’s beauty is a box of scraps. Part of today I spent searching my boxes of scrap fabric for a particular fabric I used to make baby clothes and my daughter used to make a quilt when she was four. I almost never get rid of fabric scraps. I even cut up the small pieces into teeny tiny pieces that i keep sorted by color and shades. Since i couldn’t find what i wanted in my main boxes I pulled out to old boxes of unsorted scraps. I found some wonderful pieces of fabric and blocks. I’d forgotten about most of them. Some were from quilting friends who sewed fabrics together and started blocks only to decide they didn’t like the color scheme. Others are scrap left over from baby clothes which of course bring a flood of old memories. I could have spent hours sorting through the boxes. Instead I quickly chose another fabric and some of the unfinished blocks. I made two backgrounds for cat quilts from these. Anyway playing with beautiful fabrics of various textures, patterns and colors is so wonderful.
