“As I create and listen, I will be led” — The Artist Way

To reconnect with my spirituality I turn to nature.

Day 1

At first I thought you were a great lullaby. Until you roared in the middle of the night like many lions had assembled outside the house. I was afraid you may reach me through the window — your owner warned us that at one point you hit the library window. You calmed down for a few minutes, then later, you raged with more powerful strikes. Maybe you were angry at those rocks that stopped you from reaching the shore. The rhythm of your roaring brought back memories when I almost drown. You are too powerful to be ignored. Maybe you were just seeking attention from a lonely soul.

Day 2

It was impossible to get away from you. You stared at us all day from every angle of the house — this was your invitation to come closer to you. I approached you from a hidden spot I found on a cliff under the house. From there I noticed you had your wild ways with the rocks yet you blanketed the otters in white bubbles. They accepted you and even danced all over you. How you can be furious with the rocks and be playful with the otters at the same time? Maybe I misunderstood you.

Day 3

In the morning, I came down to the cove to meet you. I kept my distance to stay safe. Within minutes you welcomed me by splashing my feet with cold water. I ran back to the staircase alarmed.

Day 4

Before leaving one of your many sanctuaries on the Pacific, I met you by a cliff again. Though I was looking down at you from a swing, I felt very vulnerable from where I was standing. My hands were tensed from holding on to the cables too hard. Thank you for existing and raging to remind me that I am not powerful enough. You are greater than me and whoever put you on earth is greater than us.
