Android vs IOS: Which is more important.

The debate on which platform is the best to launch first has been really heated for the past years. There is really no right argument to this debate because both app development platforms have their pros and cons.

In this post, I would be talking about three of the most important factors that should to be put into consideration before deciding on which app development to launch first.

  1. Audience: In the world, Android holds the largest market share. Notwithstanding if your targeted audience is the youth or higher income earners, then IOS may be the best to launch first but if you are targeting the mass market the appropriate app to launch first would be Android.

2. Cost: IOS is less expensive to develop. Android, on the other hand, is more expensive to build, extra cost can also be incurred during the development and maintenance of various brands, OS versions, hardware capabilities, screen sizes etc. Also, IOS generates more revenue than Android.

You can see from the above graph, though Android apps are downloaded more than IOS apps, IOS apps still generates more revenue.

3. Complexity: IOS is only on few types of gadgets with superior quality and capable highly usable interface. Apps developed on IOS consumes less RAM. Android on the other than has wide fragmentation on lower standard devices. Apps developed on android consumes more RAM.

As a startup that just wants to build and launch a mobile app for the first time, you would need to put the above into consideration before deciding which of the platform to launch.

Whichever platform you choose to go with first, make sure it works for you both commercially and adoption-wise.
