Some of you might have heard about “Internet Identity Workshop” before, or might have not. But don’t worry! This article will give you some interesting insights about the event and how our employees took part in it.

Let’s start with: What is Internet Identity Workshop (IIW)?

IIW is an “Open-Space Un-Conference” for tech geeks to discuss, share knowledge, and learn about everything related to “internet identity” in today’s world. As is tradition in all IIWs, “un-conference” encourages all attendees to call, host, or present sessions. The agenda is provided on-site each day by attendees present at the Opening Circle. This creates a real and rare opportunity to organically discuss many different topics the attendees are keen on.

It is a workshop held twice a year at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. IIW brings together identity experts, thought leaders, and developers with the focus on designing and building identity systems for everyone. Some of the topics discussed include self-sovereign and decentralized identity, cryptographic credentials, verifiable credentials and DIDs, biometrics, identity fraud and identity proofing, credentials ecosystems, personal sovereignty, and many more.

Recap from the previous IIWs

Our tech experts, Sarawuth Rungcharoenkit (Ball) and Nuttawut Kongsuwan (Win), attended the Internet Identity Workshop twice a year, since 2016 and 2020, respectively. Sarawuth is currently a chief technology officer at Finema, and Nuttawut is a research engineer who leads and supports our special team in designing and developing innovative products and technologies.

Do you know that Finema is the only Thai company that attended the Internet Identity Workshop? Yes, that’s right.

Our tech experts found the workshop to be enlightening and worth travelling all the way from Bangkok to Mountain View, CA. Previously, Finema presented a total of two sessions at the 31st Internet Identity workshop (IIW-XXXI), and another session at the 32nd Internet Identity Workshop (IIW-XXXII). Below were the topics covered by Finema.

  • IIW-XXXI #31
(Topic: Bypassing eSignature Regulations for SSI Adoption)
(Topic: Call for Asia Pacific Collaboration in Healthcare, Education, and Public Sector Use Applications)
  • IIW-XXXII #32
(Topic: Device-free SSI: Ideas, Potentials & Challenges)

Recently, Nuttawut (Win) participated in the 34th Internet Identity Workshop (IIW-XXXIV), held from April 26–28, 2022. And this November, we will be returning to the 35th Internet Identity Workshop (IIW-XXXV). See you all there!

Here comes the highlight of this article!

IIW Event at Finema HQ Office (Monthly Activity)

Finema emphasizes the benefits of activity in the workplace to ensure that our employees not only have fun but also gain a wealth of knowledge. Our first monthly activity took place on May 31, at Finema HQ Office, with the name “IIW Event”. The theme was inspired by the Internet Identity Workshop, a world-class event that brings together the identity community.

The highlight of this event was the “Knowledge Sharing Session” by Sarawuth and Nuttawut. In this session, both of them shared valuable knowledge on six selected topics from previous IIWs, such as decentralized identifier, self-sovereign identity, and verifiable credential and presentation, as well as selected topics from the most recent IIW-XXXIV, such as self-sovereign storage and verifiable legal entity identifier (vLEI).

We believe that knowledge sharing plays a major role in providing career growth opportunity and key areas for employees’ professional and skill development. Most importantly, this allows us to build a learning culture within the organization and create an efficient system that draws employees together.

Here’s a highlight video from our first #FinemaActivity2022, “IIW Event”.

Be sure to watch and listen to our tech experts, Sarawuth and Nuttawut, sharing exclusive insights from the Internet Identity Workshop as well as the purpose of “IIW Event”.

Thank you everyone who participated and made this event a successful one. We hope you have a wonderful time, and please stay tuned for upcoming activities!
