Today’s gem: MultiLogin

What does it do?
This gem lets you quickly access a new tab on a new session in one click.

Why does this seem egregiously irrelevant?
Because you’re not hip. And because it’s kind of hard to understand its value at first.

Here’s a use case:
Let’s say I’m a freelance social media manager. I have 15 different clients that I manage various social media accounts for. Six of my clients use Pinterest, and on any given day — I have to log into each account to do my work. Unfortunately, I have to log in and log out, or have several different browsers open in order to manage each account. Or if I’m at least a little hip — I’ll have a bunch of incognito windows up and running. Instead of going through all that pain, I could use the MultiLogin extension to fire up six different sessions and log into a different Pinterest account in each tab — all within the same browser. Now, I can manage all the accounts by switching tabs instead of managing six different browser windows.

Here’s another use case:
Lets say I’m a product manager, and part of my job is supervising our developer’s progress on a few new features we’re planning to launch. Our site has five different types of users, each with their own unique experience and set of tools on our site. Each user has interactions with the new features we are building out and I want to do quality assurance on each role to make sure the UX is just right. I can fire up five sessions via MultiLogin, and sign in as a different role in each tab. Now I can debug our new feature for each user type by toggling between tabs instead of separate browser windows.

There’s tons of use cases for this simple little extension. Which is why it’s today’s #FinesseGem.
