Only 2 things can make a dull week bright. One, is a long weekend and the second is a message about IT refund credit :p.

Thanks to the electronic processing of IT returns, taxpayers are facing less hassles in receiving refund. Most of times, refund does get credited in a month’s time. However, if you haven’t received your refund even after a month, there could be 2 possibilities:

  1. IT authorities are yet to process your IT return and hence the refund is not credited.
  2. The return is processed but there are issues with crediting the same to your bank. Most common of such issues are:

a. Name mismatch of the bank account holder

b. Invalid IFSC code

c. Invalid A/C number

d. Incorrect account number length

e. Communication address is incorrect (For delivery of cheques)

f. If you are not staying at your communication address (For delivery of cheques)

In such cases, you are allowed to make a request for re-issuing the refund through your account with the IT e-filing portal. If you find the process daunting, just ping Friday to sort it out for you.

And if you are wondering how to find the status of your tax refund, you can check it on NSDL website. But if it is time consuming or the status message given there is too technical to understand, let Friday know. He’ll check the status for you and decipher the jargon as well.
