When Skechers released their new shoe in the Performance line-up, we knew we had to try it. We slipped in to a pair of their newest shoe with the foam-based midsole, and it’s safe to say that we’re in love. Known for their high standard of comfort, Skechers have designed their latest offering for tempo-style run workouts. We took them out for a game of badminton, a short run and even went cycling, and here’s what we have to say.

The Hyper Burst foam works great, period. They claim that it is thin enough to offer ground feel while still maintaining a cloud-like cushion, and they deliver this promise. The midsole provides excellent energy return without sacrificing on comfort, and provides room for easy foot movement. Rubber pods have been added on the outsole for extra traction while running, especially on uneven surfaces. The cushion feels light underfoot, and you’ll find it to be extremely light (a great fit for long distance runs). All credit goes to the midsole that sets the shoe apart from its competitors and makes it so lightweight.

The M-Stride technology promotes a midfoot strike — the idea is to help minimize injuries and improve balance and flexibility by promoting the middle of your foot to strike the ground first.

Other than the Hyper Burst midsole, it’s the unique design that deserves to be celebrated. Two pull tabs allow for quick and easy removal/wearing, and the webbing-style lacing system stays locked during the workout and ensures that the shoe doesn’t become loose.

In a nutshell:

It is a lightweight daily trainer with a midsole that is durable yet plush, making it a comfortable choice for long runs as well as marathons. The additional bounce and support added by the foam helps maintain steady strides. The grooves in the outsole help ease foot movement and provide flexibility, and the Goodyear rubber pods provide extra traction.

The shoe is a seamless dual-tone knit that offers high amount of flexibility, breathability and support. The shoe even has reflectors for the night runs. A custom fit insole provides additional cushioning. The shoes have a superb grip too. Each shoe weighs 220g, making it one of the lightest running shoes available today.

In our opinion, the Skechers GORun 7+ is one of the most comfortable and best running shoes in this price range, and highly recommended for runners who are looking for comfortable shoes for their long run days.
