I believe over the past week, you have been noticing us dropping hints for an exciting announcement in PolkaFoundry. Today is the day to unfold the long-awaited news, the next chapter of PolkaFoundry. We are taking the opportunity to rebrand PolkaFoundry as Firebird, with a refocused emphasis on blockchain gaming and metaverse.
Before getting started, I would like to introduce myself briefly. My name is Luong San, the newly appointed CEO of Firebird, known as the co-founder of Icetea Labs and the lead engineer of PolkaFoundry. I started researching blockchain a couple of years ago and co-founded Icetea Labs and PolkaFoundry 3 and a half years ago. Over the past years, PolkaFoundry has received a significant amount of support and love, we would like to express our gratitude to our fans and users. Now I am sure a lot of you must be asking why the rebranding, let’s get onto it immediately.
First of all, Firebird is to develop a stand-alone chain on Cosmos designed specifically for blockchain games and metaverse. We acknowledge the rise of GameFi and the metaverse is opening up countless new possibilities and opportunities. The potential of this segment in web3 is vast, thus the rebranding. Rather similar to PolkaFoundry, we help web3 game and metaverse developers develop dApps with outstanding features and a user-friendly approach.
Despite the massive growth of GameFi, there is still a huge void. A void that is waiting to be fulfilled by traditional gamers. I believe this group of gamers is one of the keys for blockchain games to escalate to a higher position in the market. In order to attract these traditional gamers, we have to address their concerns, and apparently, the complicated procedure is one of the major contributing factors. Firebird’s vision is to come out with solutions for developers to counter this issue.
I noticed that most blockchain gamers see GameFi as a financial gain instrument, developers often market their projects in this direction too. In my opinion, we should separate the game and the rest of the elements such as blockchain, finance, and the play-to-earn mechanism. An interesting game that can live up to players’ expectations is always the primary focus, the rest are additional elements, and Firebird is here to help the innovative developers on this particular part. Firebird promises to offer several gaming-optimized features as well as the ‘UX-enabling features’ to simplify the onboarding of traditional gamers to web3 games. Of course, not only the gamers will be benefited. Firebird eases up the process of transforming your traditional game into a Web3 game, it is no longer a hassle for traditional game developers.
Before I finish here, I’d also like to include a few important messages. Besides building this technology to support web3 games and metaverse, we will also concentrate on developing interesting games with the desire to encourage players, traditional or Web3, to participate and truly enjoy. The Testnet will be released in the first week of October and the Mainnet is projected to be released in December 2022. Up until now, I believe you must have been wondering what will happen to the $PKF token. This message does not serve as an end notice for the $PKF token as the $PKF will carry on as an important role in system security and governance.
By observing the current trend in blockchain gaming, we strongly believe that unlocking the portal for Web2 gamers and introducing them to the wonder of GameFi with the technology and ecosystem we possessed is certainly the right path. We hope you will look forward to the new possibilities that we are bringing to you!
