Love Our Neighborhood Day// Stanford-Ashby, San Pablo Ave., Oakland, CA

The “Lottie Rose Art House” is a live-work location of the Firehouse Art Collective, which has residential and art studios sprinkled throughout Berkeley and Oakland. This May, we are celebrating our 1-year anniversary at this address on San Pablo and 62nd! Come party with us!

Love Our Neighborhood Day’ closes down the street to cars, allowing only foot traffic on the street. So you can literally dance in the street, if that is your thing.

Experience…

DAY.

…IN THE YARD…

LIVE MUSIC!- the Lottie Rose House favorite (and Bay-Area-based) band Los Sweet Bones will be crooning their tunes at noon (or 3 PM- we’ll see). Come witness Jonny, Pablo, Guido, and Dan jolt the front yard with their signature garage-punk-rock sound.

Catch up on their tracks: https://soundcloud.com/thesweetbones

LIVE ART! on plywood. The resident artists will be creating paintings on slabs of wood — right in front of you. Watch them work and hit them up about their artistic process.

LIVE PORTRAIT-PAINTING! Get a bold and bright portrait of your likeness by resident artist Colin Hurley for only $20.

TEMPURA PAINT! Make a little art yourself. Play. Live light. It’s Saturday.

TIE-DYE! Bring your own white t-shirt (or any other piece of clothing that looks too naked) and decorate it with shades of the rainbow that would make flower children proud (or the people down the street at PLACE for Sustainable Living, for that matter).

SCREEN-PRINTING! When your shirt is colorful, learn to brand it with exclusive Firehouse Art Collective & Lottie Rose House designs. Resident Artist Kate Fitt will show you the way!

STREET-PAINTING/CHALK-DRAWING! Bring the kids (or your inner child) and grace the pavement in front of our house with any designs you can dream of.

FACE-PAINTING! Now that everything else is painted, your face is too naked not to decorate.

YARD SALE! Artists have interesting objects in their lives, so even what they have deemed they no longer need has the potential to be fascinating treasures. Find eclectic furniture, knick-knacks, records, supplies, or inspiration for your next creative project or 3-D collage.

NIGHT.

…IN THE GALLERY…

MORE LIVE MUSIC!

End the day how you started it — by listening to local musicians . The night line-up is:

Ariel Wang, a Singer/Songwriter/Fiddle/Violinist, of the folk genre.

and Ross Murray- singer/songwriter with a small band (alternative, uncategorized).

So swing by San Pablo (on foot) and show our neighborhood some love! We look forward to meeting you, and painting your face.
