Think global, act global: more than an anecdote, this quote is today one of the rules small and medium firms need to follow in order to step out from their own markets and debut in foreign ones. But, what are the forces creating these “born to be global” companies and which challenges they will face during their life-cycle?

The need to answer to these questions gave us the opportunity to explore in-depth the Born Globals and their unique features and find out the context they have generated in the business world.

The findings of this research will allow us to host a mini-series of posts focusing on three main concepts:

  1. Born Globals: think global AND act global;
  2. Born Globals: internationalization strategies and life cycle;
  3. Born Globals: the key challenges.

The series will also lead up to the publication of our FireMatter Views 2014 Report, the first global survey that identified the challenges that international startups face when entering the US tech market as well as tactics they employ to tackle them.
