In this little corner

First Boy on the Moon chapter

And when the rest of the world collapsed, when the ashes came sailing down, in his little corner of the world, the last outpost, the sun still shone on a city that had been left alone for too long.

Floating above the waterfront, the seagulls swooned and screamed, dove for the fish beneath the shimmering and oily surface. The breeze catching leaves that, a bit too early, had given up for the colder winds. Although, the dogs still found the sun too hot and happily splashed into the water from the sandbanks, their owners watching over them calling their names to continue their walks.

A group of sparrows made its way just above the water, under the bridges and out of the city. The boy followed them on their flight along the canal towards the sea.
