Tell us more about yourself and your staff

I have been an academic for more than three decades. Besides the preschool, I conduct workshops for children to improve their reading, writing, and grammar. At the preschool, we have a well-trained and experienced staff. As evidence of our welcoming and professional environment, most of the staff has been with us for more than 15 years.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Over the years, we have seen how preschools have opened up in every nook and corner of Mumbai. While one would expect that the oversupply would lead to an improvement in the quality of education, it is not the case. All it has done is increased the commercialization and stress for both parents and children. Our roots have allowed us to not get pulled into fads and fashions around teaching. We have stayed true to ourselves and our principles which focus on providing a nurturing environment for a child’s growth.

What are your key insights as an educator?

We live in the generation of Facebook and Whatsapp where one feels constantly scrutinized. Today’s adults, especially teenagers, are unable to deal with this increased stress. How does one expect a 3-year old to cope with it? Respect each child’s strength and weakness. Instead of making every child an all-rounder, focus on their strengths and hone them. Said differently, each child’s unique abilities should be recognized and celebrated.

What do parents love about your school?

Parents love that we focus on creating an interactive environment between teachers and children. Our classroom and its materials have been selected carefully to promote hands-on learning. Interactive learning is complemented by wholesome food, which leads to better child care.

What is your advice for parents who would like to apply for admission to your school?

Parents should do their homework before visiting the preschool. Knowing about basics like our teaching methodologies, facilities, and history will help in setting the right expectations. It would also allow parents to ask smarter and more targeted questions when they meet in person.
