It’s been an exciting few months since we released! With many great talks with writers on Twitter, emails, and over coffee (if you’re in Tokyo let us know!)

We’re moving towards some exciting small changes that we hope will have a positive impact on your first drafts. With that said, we’ll soon be moving just a little beyond first drafts. Nowhere near final drafts, but maybe your first draft and maybe draft 1.1 or 1.2. With that said, we’re moving beyond First Draft and happy to reintroduce ourselves as Rough Draft!

Why Rough Draft? And why the logo?

  • The logo is just a rough draft! We wanted to practice what we preach and so we quickly scribbled it just like we do our written rough drafts.
  • We wanted to embody our favorite Hemingway quote, “The first draft of anything is s***.” Hopefully, the new logo reminds you it’s okay to write s***ty or rough.
  • We hope it’s a small reminder to relax, forget the rules, and color outside the lines some when writing your rough draft.

As for the features to help you take a draft from 1 to 1.1? They’ll be coming soon, so stay in touch. For now, we have a very BIG or maybe more Medium announcement…
