FLN Report: 2016 Italian GP
I’m gonna keep this one brief because there really wasn’t much to talk about. Rosberg won the race and was never in danger. Hamilton came back to finish second after he messed up the start, and Sebastian Vettel finished third but wore the 1st place cap for about 3 minutes before someone told him it was the wrong hat. Other than that all of the exciting stuff happened outside of the race track.
Jenson Button is (defnitely not) retiring according to his own words, but the fact is we won’t see him on the grid next year as Stoffel The Woffel Vandoorne will take his place as a McLaren driver. JB will stick around though because honestly who doesn’t want Jenson around? Still it’ll be interesting to see what he actually does with the team. My guess? He’ll become the “Carmen Jorda” of McLaren. He’ll be there for the cameras and to get people at home swooning. Felipe “Felipe Baby” Mass also announced his retirement and he will go down as one of the biggest “what ifs” in F1 history. What if he had won in 08? what if he hadn’t been nearly killed by that bizarre accident? What if Fernando wasn’t faster than him do you copy? It’s a weird day for people that have been following this sport for a while now, only Kimi and Alonso remain from the 07 season. It’s truly a changing of the guard. Nothing gold can stay my friends.
Final note about the Italian GP. Monza is a great track, Italy is a great F1 country. Ferrari is great. The Italian GP with the current domination of Mercedes and without any inclement weather is a snooze fest. I don’t care how many members of Vape nation show up to the race or how tall a flag pole they can conjure up it’s just plain boring TV.
