It’s been a long run, but we’ve crossed the finish line! Our first fiction writing contest is a wrap!

I offer my deepest thanks and appreciation to all writers who dedicated their time crafting stories from garish, ghoulish, suspenseful, and lovely to poignant, romantic and insane. It is a noble cause; you have all wielded your pens like mighty swords. Make no mistake, it is a battle to enter and exit a field of conflict, which is at the heart of all stories — conflict. We create our characters and then give them problems, reason and resolution.

The stories received for this contest had all of those and more.
Before we get to the pie, I must set the table. Keeping with the transparency I promised, below the winner’s announcements, you will see the scoring tables from the entire pack to the longlist and shortlist selections. I’m only showing the scoring for writers who have provided permission to do so publicly. Those writers who wish for a private evaluation can reach out to me if they so desire.

Following each finalist’s story is an amalgamation of notes from Liberty and myself. Short-form descriptions and observations on positive and detracting…
