In celebration of today — World Photo Day — we asked award-winning CQ Roll Call photographers Caroline Brehman, Tom Williams, and Bill Clark to each choose what they deemed their “most memorable” photo of 2020 thus far. See their snaps below.

Tom’s Pic(k): The hearse carrying the remains of the late Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., pauses at Black Lives Matter Plaza on 16th Street NW, during a procession to the U.S. Capitol Building for his memorial service on Monday, July 27, 2020. Mayor Muriel Bowser conducted a brief ceremony on the plaza at 16th and I streets, NW.

“When I arrived at Black Lives Matter Plaza for the procession of the late Rep. John Lewis, I saw a lone television camera on top of a building on 16th Street and thought that might be a good position. I went to investigate which led to a series of fortuitous events. First, the building’s door was supposed to be locked. Then the security guard thought I was the photographer that had already been granted access. After I had been up there a while, the manager realized their mistake but I was able to talk my way into staying. So, as with most good photos, there was a lot of luck involved.”
