Moving from Pilot Testing to Field Testing

Recently the Fishcoin team visited a shrimp farm in southern Thailand together with Dr. Darian McBain and Mr. Songrit Numphud of partners Thai Union. With pilot or alpha testing of the Fishcoin decentralised application underway it was time to take the first steps toward field testing — beta testing.

The first steps of field testing is to construct an initial picture of test validity and reliability, and to survey the field sites, users, the devices they are using, and their connectivity. We introduced the application, its purpose, and how it captures and tags the key data elements to their product needed by either regulatory authorities for traceability or data needed by actors further downstream. Just as important the trip to southern Thailand was also to introduce ourselves to the shrimp farmers and make that critical human connection.
