As we said in our end of year reflection, reflecting on experiences can help provide important insights that allow us to learn and grow. It enables us to process events and experiences, in addition to any emotions that went along with them. This is a quintessential step toward healing and thriving, in order to be our best and healthiest selves.

Here are 10 questions to guide your reflections on a difficult year and how these lessons can be used to jump start the new year:

  1. When you think about 2020, what feelings come up for you? How about when you think about 2021?
  2. What was the most difficult part of this year?
  3. How did you surprise yourself this year? What surprised you about others?
  4. What did you do to take care of yourself this year? How are you planning to take care of yourself next year?
  5. How do you know when you’ve overextended yourself? What can you do to adjust your boundaries?
  6. Who is in your support group? How have you supported others?
  7. What brought you joy this year?
  8. What are some ways you would like to grow in 2021?
  9. How would you like to make a difference in your community and network in 2021?
  10. What are you looking forward to the most in 2021?

Happy journaling and see you in the new year!
