1 scary processed food is far worse for your brain than you thought
The older I get, the more foods I slash from my diet.
As you’ll know if you’ve read my work for any amount of time, I quit alcohol for good at age 41.
The main reason I quit was that I was tired of wasting my potential and disappointing myself … every night I would go zombie mode on the couch, and every morning I’d wake up lethargic and in a bad mood from terrible sleep.
It was starting to beat up my body too, however, and my body was sending me unmistakable signals that I was headed for ruin if I didn’t change course.
In terms of food-food, I’ve cut back on pretty much anything that isn’t super easy to digest.
That means red meat is all but gone — I’ll eat it once or twice a month, maybe.
The latest is dairy, which absolutely wreaks havoc on my insides.
I suffered through a very fitful sleep last week as my body struggled to process the gigantic bowl of cereal I had right before bed (I know, TMI), and I resolved that night to avoid milk at all costs.
In terms of brain health specifically, quitting booze was probably the biggest favor I could have done for my mental health and longevity.
And one daily staple of my diet — blueberries— is known to be the healthiest thing you can feed your grey matter.
