5 exercises that destroy your body after 40 (avoid): fitness expert

Of all the exercises I’ve done in my life, one stands above all others for the sheer number of times it has injured me.

Not the most serious injuries, mind you.

I have ice hockey to thank for a sports hernia that nagged me for more than a year.

And I don’t know quite what caused my spinal discs to get so out of whack that it caused my doctor to speculate I had multiple sclerosis, but I imagine it was some combination of too heavy lifting and sitting too long without breaks.

But for nagging injuries, the crown goes to … hoisting any kind of weight over my head.

Not only has this motion caused all kinds of neck muscle pains and strains, it has also triggered countless migraines as a result.

And I get migraine with aura, which is basically like having a stroke, so that’s no small thing.

The problem has always been that I want to build my shoulders more, and doing overhead stuff seems to be the most effective way of doing this (open to solutions if you have any).

Anywho, it’s on my mind this week because I recently came across an interview with 1 fitness expert who revealed what they say are the 5 worst exercises that destroy your body after 40.

Overhead lifting wasn’t on it, but you might be surprised by some of the things that are.
