7 Ways to Cut Out the Clutter in Your Life
It’s easy to take on much more than you can readily manage. We all do it at least every now and then. Between work and home there is an endless list of things that need to be taken care of, but the thing that should be at the top of that list? YOU.
How, exactly, then, do you find enough hours in a day to get everything done? Here are a few tips that I find very helpful in my own life:
- Don’t take on more than you can handle. Accept your limitations and work within those parameters.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you are completely exhausted after work, ask your kids or spouse to make dinner. Give yourself permission to let someone else bear some of the brunt.
- Get enough sleep. It may seem like a good idea to pull an all-nighter to get a project done, but how is that going to impact your productivity the next day?
- Take some “me” time every single day. You must create some space for you to recharge every day. Even if it is only thirty minutes, carve out a little time to do exactly what you want to be doing. Make it clear to everyone that this is your time — no exceptions.
- Delegate responsibilities. Your new assistant may not be the quickest at the job, but they’re there to help you with your workload, so utilize their skills.
- Automate as much as possible. You read that right — I’m encouraging you to turn to technology and make it work for you. Schedule all your bills to be paid automatically and use the reminders feature of your mobile device freely.
- Do your best on each thing then move on. You will exhaust yourself if you try to make every single thing perfect. Sometimes good enough is just that — good enough. Focus your energy on perfecting the things that really matter.
