Multiple news reports have indicated that certain mountain bike rear shock absorbers are being recalled over a possible injury hazard.

According to the official announcement, the 2016 and some 2017 FLOAT X2 bicycle rear shock absorbers are being recalled because the parts’ outer sleeves may rupture, allowing the sleeve to come in contact with other bicycle parts. Whether that happens or the parts come in contact with the rider, a fall incident may occur.

Since this issue has been associated with at least seven incidents, riders are being urged to stay alert.

Consumers with the recalled rear shock absorbers are being urged to stop using the bicycles. Contact the place of purchase and have the absorbers returned for a free repair. You may also contact Fox for more details.

The full recall announcement published by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission can be found here.

Do not wait until an accident has happened to you or a loved one using your mountain bike. Staying safe includes making sure your gear and bicycles are in top shape before hitting the road.
