If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.

— Martin Luther King

This quote has become a very popular motivational line which conveys perseverance. Once you shift your focus from your goal to your actions that can get you to that goal, you feel more empowered and you get more clarity on what needs to be done.

How can i apply it in my life?

Perseverance asks you to stick to your goal and not to your strategy. You can make as many attempts with as many ways to achieve that goal.

The moment you face a setback or notice that things are not going as you assumed, you need to hold right there. You need to take a moment
and assess why you made that wrong assumption? If assumption holds true then is there anything missing in execution? You have to be aware
of what is causing these setbacks before considering retrying.

Other possibility is that you are aiming too high. May be you are doing everything right but just expecting more in less time. This increases your chances of quitting significantly as you are not satisfied with the process of achieving your goal. You need to make this distinction with your setback asking are you really failing or are you just expecting more?

The ability to deal with your failures and setbacks will keep up your momentum. Once you have momentum you don’t need to depend on motivation or courage to persevere.
