Do You Need a Gym to Lose Weight and to Get in Shape?

What’s the first thing you think of when you need to lose weight?

‘Ugh, I’m looking and I’m feeling fat — I need to get myself to a gym!’

So, you’ll sign up for whatever cheap deal your local gym has, and you’ll push yourself to go either before or after work…

If you’re accustomed to working out, then it’s just a motivation game. You know what to do — It’s just a matter of doing it!

If you’re a newb to fitness, then you’re going to get this extreme sense of overwhelm and self-consciousness the first time you enter the facility to actually work out

You’ll think things like:

. There are so many machines and tons of weights — I don’t know what to do, or where to begin!

. There are beautiful, muscular men and women working out who look like they run the place. They’re going to stare at me and judge me for not looking or moving like them!!

It’s this lethal combination of self-doubt that causes 80% of gym members to NOT actually utilize their memberships.

That’s right — Despite their credit cards being charged by the gym every month, the number of times 80% of Americans will actually step foot in their gym is ZERO!

If this sounds like you, then you’re in luck, because you do NOT need to go to the gym in order to lose weight or get in shape :-)

You can avoid these negative thoughts and this sense of overwhelm with just a couple of things:

  1. An adequate amount of both ceiling and floor space.

If you can reach overhead without coming close to hitting the ceiling, then you have enough ceiling space to work out. If you can lay on the floor, flat on your back, with both your arms and your legs fully extended, then you have enough floor space to get a good workout in.

2. 15–20 Minutes.

The days of working out for hours on end are over! It’s not quantity over quality, people — It’s quality over quantity!!

Interval training methods like Tabata and HIIT are great, time-effective strategies that will get you the best bang for you buck. Check out weightlossbypete.com/design-workout-routine to learn more about how you can design your own workout routine.

That’s it! You don’t need crazy cardio machines or free weights to get into unstoppable shape!!

The best piece of equipment you can use is your body. By training it in a functional manner in the comfort of your own home, you can avoid the judgment and the self-doubt that creeps up when you have to go to an iron dungeon to get the results you want.

If you liked this piece, please ‘Clap’ for it, and share it with a friend or family member that needs to hear it!
