With great power comes great exercise regimens!

In case you haven’t noticed, superhero movies are all the craze right now. And even though the jury is still out on who’s the most powerful superhero of all time, there’s one thing they all have in common; an incredible physique. Being in shape is extremely important when it comes to fighting crime and saving the world from impending doom. Which got us thinking, how do our favourite superheroes stay fit? We took a closer look and imagined their choice of fitness regimen.

1) Superman

Superman has super-everything — strength, speed, flight, invulnerability as well as his renowned X-ray and heat vision. To transform himself into the “Man of Steel”, Henry Cavill had to rely on vigorous workouts and large calorie consumption. Clark Kent on the other hand, would probably run laps around North America for cardio and lift very heavy objects like Cars and Planes for strength training.

2) Wonder Woman

As an Amazonian warrior who possesses superhuman strength and speed, Wonder Woman is one of the few superheroes that can go toe-to-toe with Superman by using her amazing combat skills (get it, girl). Naturally, Gal Gadot embraced a crazy workout routine in order to do the heroine justice. In her workout sessions however, we see Wonder Woman covering a wide range of disciplines, including kung fu, kickboxing, swords and weightlifting (consisting of buses and trucks, of course).

3) Thor

As the son of Odin and Gaea, Thors strength, endurance and resistance to injury are greater than the vast majority of his superhuman race. He is also a skilled warrior, proficient in hand-to-hand combat and hammer throwing. When preparing for the role, Chris Hemsworth himself applied a tough old-school bodybuilding approach. For speed and durability, the Norse God would definitely go berserk with the Viking Method, a functional training regime that uses high intensity exercises to strip fat and help build a lean athletic physique, leaving Loki with no chance!

4) Captain America

Captain America is a Super Soldier World War II veteran and is the world’s first superhero. His character (as played by Chris Evans) is portrayed as possessing enhanced human abilities, such as formidable intelligence, strength, speed and reflexes, just to name a few. Captain America is a fighter, so kickboxing, Circuit training, and a Viking Method mash-up are likely all his game.

5) Batman

Unlike his crime fighting friends, Bruce Wayne’s alter ego isn’t empowered by radioactive exposure or godly parentage. Take away his self-sufficient, billion-dollar company to finance his vehicles, weapons, and gadgets, and you’re left with a normal guy. Batman pretty much represents the world’s most well-trained athlete with the skills of a super spy and the martial arts training of the special forces. Both Ben Affleck and Christian Bale did major work to wear the infamous bat suit. In order to fight crime in Gotham City, we reckon that Batman’s regimen includes CrossFit, Judo, Taekwondo, Ninjutsu and everything in between.

6) Black Widow

“Natasha” Romanoff, better known as Black Widow, is one of the best spies and assassins in the world. She is also a talented ballerina and a master martial artist. So much so that Scarlett Johansson had to take her fitness to another level in order to squeeze into a skin-tight bodysuit for “The Avengers”. For effective cardio, Black Widow herself would likely include circuit workouts and MMA training into her exercise regimen. For strength and flexibility, she would opt for something like TRX and Power Yoga.
