Professional athletes are in the privileged position where they can eat the healthiest of foods so that they can perform to the maximum. Unlike the average joe who might have sweets and chocolate before a competition. Athletes will eat carbohydrates and protein. Foods like pasta, have slow release energy so when they are competing, they are using that energy. However, in today’s article, i will be talking about athletes and their weird pre-game meals. Instead of following the norm some of these athletes have been a bit like us in choosing their meals.

Wayne Gretzky
Wayne Gretzky is a legend in ice-hockey and is considered the greatest ice hockey player of all-time. We would be here all day if we had to list all of his accomplishments. On an individual level, he was able to score 200 points in four different seasons; no one has scored 200 points in one season. But Wayne had an extraordinary pre-game meal; he would eat four hot dogs which also contained mustard and onions. It was unusual for him to have popcorn, pizza and a drink of diet coke. Wayne Gretzky never changed his pre-game diet as he was used to eating that way.

Lyoto Machida
Lyoto Machida is a UFC fighter, UFC is a very physically engaging sport which requires concentration and incredible tactical ability, so you are not knockout-outed in a couple of seconds. So eating and drinking the right foods is crucial. Unlike literally every single athlete in the world. Lyoto Machida has been known to drink his urine while this is safer than drinking someone else’s urine, he could just get a drink of water. He also rubs the urine on his hands. This is done, because it is a family tradition and it toughens his skin.

Laffit Pincay Jr
Most athletes will and even athletes on this list, they will fill themselves up. This is, so they felt ready and energised even if it is incredibly unhealthy. Laffit Pincay is one of the greatest jockeys of all time, and his achievements are stacked. You want to know what isn’t stacked it’s his pre-game meal. He would eat a single peanut, not a bag of peanuts it would be one single peanut. This was due to his strict diet which consisted of around 600–750 calories per day. There was a story that he split the peanut in half eating one before the race and one after the race.

Chad Johnson
Chad Johnson is an American football player, so as a player in this sport it would be rewarding to his body if he filled it up with Carbs and Protein. Chad had a different idea, despite remaining in good shape for his workouts. Pre-game meals consisted of his Mcdonalds. Yes, an American football player eats Mcdonalds before games.
