The Best

Maybe I will never reach the brass ring
but my passion is not for nothing
I might not be the fastest, the strongest
the best
But why should that mean it’s not worth it?
Every mile I’ve ran is still a mile
that made me faster and stronger
Every breath has cleansed me
with opportunity
Each small step
lead me somewhere new
And every word put to the page
has first lived in my heart
So how can you tell me
that unless I win a trophy,
or sell a million copies
that it doesn’t matter?
