This is why I run

I’ve never been too fat or too thin. So it always surprises people that I work out.

Their reasoning is that waking up early every morning to jog/exercise is pure torture. And healthy eating is often mistaken for me starving myself or something else equally outrageous.

But here’s the thing, exercise is exhilarating.

Have you ever been so exhausted you can barely see straight?

So tired, you can hear your heart thumping, and with sweat dripping down your nose you’d be lucky if you can feel your feet.

But you keep running because you haven’t reached your goal yet. When you do though — when you finally stop, you’re fully alive.

And isn’t that what we live for? To remind ourselves just how amazing it is to live?

Sure, it may be superficial- just adrenaline and endorphins. But nothing compares.

No amount of alcohol or weed can make you feel quite the same. Sure there’s a high. But it doesn’t mark a milestone. It doesn’t knock the wind out of you and set your lungs on fire.

And that is why I run.

I run because I seek the high.
