Nowadays, many people think that the only way to trim your body, build muscle and become fit is by hitting the gym, for regular weightlifting sessions. And even though that is a perfectly fine way to become fit and shredded, many fail to recognize how good and efficient total body workouts are. Don’t get us wrong, total body workouts require a lot of effort if you want to see the results, but they can be done both in the comfort of your home and at your local gym. The key is that you are able to work on your whole body in one training session. Let’s take a closer look.

Know this before you get started

  • Visiting gym is optional

First of all, you don’t need gym equipment to do these workouts. You don’t even need to visit the gym. Exercises we’ll mention don’t require you to use the standard machines. Secondly, you can work out at home whenever you want. Working out at home means that you don’t have to lose that precious time in traffic that you usually do when you go to the gym.

  • Time management

You can modify and combine total body exercises to match your own schedule. If you’re on a tight schedule, you can do various short exercises that will only set you back for 15 to 30 minutes. And we firmly believe that every single one of us can find at least 15 minutes to do a quick workout at home. That’s exactly how long some of these workouts last and they are still effective. Just push your living room furniture aside and you’re good to go.

  • Additional benefit for parents

For all of you who are proud parents, you also don’t have to worry about leaving kids. Do your workouts in other room during nap time. If they are old enough, you can let them stay and watch you do your workout. That way you’ll show your child how fun exercising can be. If it sparks some interest, one day you could easily find your child exercising with you.

  • Motivation troubles

Since total body workouts don’t require you to visit the gym regularly, some people simply fail to maintain the consistency of their workouts. And everyone lacks motivation from time to time. Especially the ones who exercise alone at home. And that’s why you need to motivate yourself. Having proper workout clothes is one way to do it. Psychology proves that. So make sure to find great workout garments and you’ll see the change. Check out Ryderwear if you want to find stylish and quality workout clothes in which you’ll always feel eager to exercise!

Workouts selection

  • The plank

Planking is one of the most effective exercises out there. Planks mainly focus on your core muscles. However, you’ll also improve your strength, balance and endurance. In order to do a basic plank, you need to lie down on a level surface with your belly facing the floor. Place your feet so that your toes touch the floor and bring your hands forward near the sides of your head so that your forearms lie on the floor in parallel to each other. Lift your torso and your legs off of the floor and keep your body straight. Hold that position for at least five seconds. After that, gently bring your torso down.

  • Zumba

This is a fun dance fitness exercise that combines energetic music with rhythm choreography. With Zumba, you’ll burn calories while dancing to salsa, flamenco and merengue. Zumba is so popular due to the fact that you’re having so much fun while working out. The high-energy workouts are set to upbeat music and feature dance moves that you might see in a nightclub. On top of that, you don’t need to be a great dancer to do Zumba. Just play ‘La Isla Bonita’ and start moving!

  • Jumping rope

You are probably familiar with jumping rope. You need to jump one to two inches off the floor, providing rope just enough space to slip under your feet. Keep elbows close to sides as you turn the rope but the movement has to come from the wrists and forearms, not from the shoulders. It would be great if you could do a front-back jumping rope technique. In order to do it, jump up with feet together, moving six inches forward over the rope. On the next turn, jump back six inches. It’s important that you continue alternating, jumping once per turn.

  • Hip Hop Abs

Hip hop abs is a workout program designed to tone your whole body with a special emphasis on your abs. If you’re into hip-hop music, then you’ve probably noticed that your favorite stars have some great looking abs. They have such great abs due to the fact that various dance moves require strong core muscles. Hip-hop dance moves are also very fluid and require a dancer to exercise their central abs, the bottom and top of their abs and their obliques.

Total body exercises and workouts are becoming more and more popular. Now you know why, but you also know what you need to properly execute them. We hope that you introduced yourself to various total body exercises that you can combine to create your perfect workout. Just remember to stretch before and after the workout and drink plenty of water.
