Why I changed up my workout routine
And it’s working so far
Sometimes I get in a funk with going to the gym. Or working out in general.
And when I get into a funk, my solution is simple. I don’t go or do any type of workout.
I find excuses (such as writing) and claim that I just don’t have time to work out right now.
We’ve all tried to bunk our gym session or dance class. A single routine can get monotonous. That’s why I have decided to make my fitness regime fun by incorporating different workouts into my schedule. From dancing to yoga, I plan to keep it as interesting as possible so I’m never bored of working out. — Disha Patani
But I do have time.
After a three week hiatus, I finally found my way back to the gym by deciding to change up my routine. I’m a weights first, cardio second kind of person. I made the minor tweak of switching the order, and it has made a difference.
I’m also adding in different lifts and cardio to make things more interesting. It keeps my mind sharp instead of going through the motions.
I am stretching so much more than I was previously. Sure, some of that is certainly due to getting back into shape, but I’m taking the time to stretch before, during, and after my workout.
I’m making sure I’m going at about 60–70% effort right now. My tendency is to go “beast mode” too soon, and then I regret it. I’m doing more bodyweight and light weights at this point.
And I’m listening to my body. Yesterday I had intentions of going for a 90 minute workout and I cut it to 60 minutes. There’s a time and place to push the limits, but this isn’t it…yet.
It’s amazing what can happen by making a simple tweak to my routine. I I have renewed effort, more motivation, and a better attitude. I WANT to go to the gym rather than feeling like I HAVE to.
