You Don’t Hate Mondays, You Hate Your Lifestyle

Remember the typical scenes in office — Rachel wants to hit on coffee every one hour, Jim mindlessly scrolling through social media, Ryan’s face looks like he has just returned from the war, everyone showing up too late, and lots of dramatic faces in every corner. You know it’s Monday when you see such faces!

Monday is to a week as Elaichi is to Biryani. Everyone hates it. But is it Monday that you hate or your lifestyle? Is Monday becoming a horror story of your life? Are you not jumping out of the bed Monday morning?

Some particular faces in my team shared with me that they really hate Mondays. Once a marketing team leader at ProofHub generally said, don’t you think that we live truly on the weekends and holidays only? For some unknown reason, everyone around me feels particularly threatful about Mondays because they have set their lives in a way that makes Monday hateful or because everyone else hates it, so do you.

Whether you admire it or not, the day is coming again every seven days. The better choice is to change the way you prepare yourself for Monday morning. Let’s do something epic.

How to Make Mondays Great — Beat the Blues

Begin the morning with exercise

You’ll find thousands of posts tagged with #nevermissamonday on Twitter and Instagram. Many folks start exercise routines on Monday than any other day of the week, committing to a healthy lifestyle. It’s great to commit yourself to stay fit, but Monday motivation is sometimes hard to come by. With being laid-back, hitting the snooze button is common on Monday. But one step to workout will be rewarding in many ways.

  • It releases endorphins, the hormones that make you feel better
  • It makes the flow of working for the rest of the week
  • It lessens the general anxiety that grows with Monday blue feelings
  • It will give you better self-control
  • It makes you feel accomplished and you look forward to more

Set the stage for the day!

Make a list of your three most important tasks

Tony Robbins calls it ‘’chunking’’. Make a list of everything you have to do, group together items and give each ‘chunk’ a dedicated time. Choose what you’ll work on first, otherwise, you will be given extra tasks to do. And of course, you don’t want to get frustrated on Monday morning. Keep the list of important tasks with you Sunday evening or do it as the first thing in the morning. This will bring you into a specific zone to crank through all the things that will make you feel good.

Dress up the best

Don’t wait for the weekends to wear your best clothes. Bring it on for Mondays to bring in excitement for the day. Feel 100 percent about your look, because it will prepare you for a better day. Pick clothes that fit you pretty well and makes you stand out than a normal day.

Plant a garden of positive emotions

Half of the things are there in your mind and it’s all about training your mind to look at the things from a different perspective.

  • Start the day with a positive affirmation to reprogram your belief system.
  • There is nothing as perfect day — focus on good things.
  • Try to find humor even in the darkest or most difficult situations.
  • Transform negative self-talk into positive self-talk.

Make it your habit to replace the negativity with positivity by being open to new opportunities. When you keep your mind clean, any positive emotion can be multiplied. Your relationship with Monday will bloom if you spread positivity in your mind.

These are the simple steps to bring a change into your perceptions about Monday. Make Mondays more enjoyable and productive by changing how you approach the day.

If you’re waiting for the weekend, and not enjoying your work you are doing a disservice to yourself. Of course, you do not want to realize after 5 or 10 years that you are still in the same job, and still miserable. Make the choice to shine each day!

May every coming Monday in your life be more fun! Cheers. What do you do on Monday mornings? We want to hear from you! Leave a comment below.
