Setting goals is a powerful way to think about your perfect future. It’s also a way to set goals for your lifestyle. These positive affirmations are moving our brains in the direction we want to go. Setting goals makes us move in that desired direction.

There are 2 different types of goals: Short-term and Long-term

Short term- They are goals that happen in a shorter time frame. Usually these goals are pretty easy to achieve and you KNOW you can achieve them. This includes things like “I’m going to do 20 sit-ups every day this week”. These goals tend to happen in the near future and only involve one or two actions.

Long term- These are goals that have more steps and tend to be more complicated. An example would be “I want to lose 50 pounds in 1 year”. A goal like this has many steps and moving parts. You may even need to cancel plans just to have time to go to the gym. Or you might even have to pay money if you don’t already have a gym membership. A goal like this probably needs multiple actions to be achievable.

The hardest part about achieving goals is setting them up to actually work. It is easy to say “I am going to go to the gym 5 days a week and run every morning.” I mean sure, that would be nice if we could all do that, but it is easier said then done. You always need to ask yourself, do you really want to achieve this goal? Do you want to go to the gym 5 days a week and run every morning? Do you want to wake up an hour earlier every day? Do you want to cancel plans just to go to the gym? When you set goals, realistically envision what you want your life to look like.
