Add these foods to your diet! Here’s why…

Let’s get this out there straight away. Not one food, even a superfood, can offer all the nutrition benefits we need to nourish ourselves. Having a wide combination of different food groups together will give your body the health benefits to function perfectly throughout the day.

I advise adding the below foods into your diet, as they have incredible benefits.

Let’s not waste any more time, let’s get onto the 5 superfoods you need to boost a healthy diet.

Fish — Fish is high in many important nutrients, including high-quality protein, iodine, and various vitamins and minerals. Fatty varieties also pack omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D. At least one serving of fish per week has been linked to a reduced risk of heart attacks and strokes. Fish with higher content of omega 3 fatty acids are salmon, sardines, mackerel, cod and trout.

Avocado — Avocados contain an impressive amount of nutrients and are especially rich in fibre, B6, vitamin C, potassium, vitamin E, folate, and copper. Eating avocados regularly may benefit health in several ways, including protecting against heart disease, improving overall diet quality, improving satiety, and promoting gut health. Plus, they’re versatile and delicious!!

Blueberries — The blueberry is a very popular berry. It is low in calories but high in fibre, vitamin C and vitamin K. Quite incredibly, several studies suggest that blueberries and blueberry juice reduce DNA damage, which is a leading driver of aging and cancer.

Broccoli — Broccoli is a nutrient-rich vegetable that enhances your health in a variety of ways, such as by reducing inflammation, improving blood sugar control, boosting immunity (vitamin C) and promoting heart health. Broccoli also contains multiple potent antioxidants that may support healthy cells and tissues throughout your body. When cooking broccoli, I advise steaming to keep hold of all their nutrients.

Sweet potato — Sweet potatoes are high in fibre and antioxidants, which protect your body from free radical damage and promote a healthy gut and brain. They’re also incredibly rich in beta-carotene, which is converted to vitamin A to support good vision and your immune system. When cooking sweet potatoes, I advise steaming to keep hold of all their nutrients.

As you now know, each one of these foods provides countless amounts of vitamins, nutrients and minerals you need to keep a healthy diet. Try and include them in your diet moving forward, your body will thank you!
