If you want to take your gym sessions & strength to the next level, read ahead…It’ll only take 2 minutes!

What are compound exercises?

Compound exercises are exercises that work multiple muscle groups at the same time. For example, a squat is a compound exercise that works the quadriceps, glutes, calves, lower back and core muscles! Compound exercises are also cardio workouts too, as it increases your heart rate significantly. If you continuously do compound exercises your all-round strength and cardio will significantly improve overtime as you are training multiple muscles in one movement, it’s a no brainer right?!

My top 5 compound exercises:

  1. Squats

2. Deadlifts

3. Bench press

4. Pull ups (close & wide grip)

5. Standing barbell shoulder press

Each one of these exercises uses multiple muscles to function at the same time, especially your core and lower back! Which will improve your strength a lot quicker. Therefore, it’s so important to include compound exercises. If you do not do this, and stick to just the basic exercises, you won’t build a solid foundation of strength and will find it A LOT harder to increase your weights overtime.

By successfully completing these exercises, you will see a massive improvement in your cardio. This is because compound exercises are hard for the body and gets almost every muscle working, which takes a lot of energy and requires your heart to pump a lot faster to cope with the stress. So, if you are consistent with it, you will see your cardio improve, and you should be able to lift heavier weights. WIN WIN!!!
