As glacier mass decreased yearly, human observation was at an all time low

As the Earth’s temperature rises every year, scientists have confirmed that glaciers are melting away. These decaying lands of ice are causing a significant sea level rise that is impacting the world on a global scale. The World Glacier Monitoring Service observed the melting glacier mass between 1945 and 2015. The data they recorded also tracks how frequently humans are observing this issue.

The line chart above reveals the sudden stagnation of human observations of melting glaciers between 1985 and 2011. Suddenly human observations dive low as they enter the year 2011. Scientists emphasize this glacier decrease as a major issue that impacts everyone. The more water our oceans acquire will cause flooding in many cities. Tracking this issue and observing this decreasing trend is an important factor in creating solutions to end this issue.
