Chick-Fil-A is the Most Popular Place to Eat at Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus

Florida International University has 20 restaurants ranging from Asian flavors to the dominant spices of Hispanic food. With such variety and an even bigger student body of around 55,000, I decided to answer the unknown question of which place was the most popular place to eat at the MMC campus. Taking data by hand and receiving an answer of about 15 students, the most popular place to eat seems to be Chick-Fil-A followed by Starbucks. Of the best five places to eat the general consensus seemed to include Panda Express, Pollo Tropical, and Sushi Maki.

Starbucks part-timer Amanda Vargas said there was an increase in traffic because of the holidays specifically because of the limited-time holiday drinks. “A lot of people like the mocha peppermint and the caramel drizzle,” she said.

Although the most popular restaurants seem to be the biggest brands there are still small-time favorites among students.

Yleana Ceballos, part of the Student Resource office loves Jamba Juice even if she’s in the minority opinion.

“I get it every single morning,” she said. “It’s one of the healthier alternatives.”

Ceballos said the reason why Jamba Juice might not be well-liked is because of the atmosphere.

“Places like Starbucks and Barnes and Nobles Cafe have a more homey feel,” she said. “In the Jamba Juice restaurant there aren’t many places to sit and it’s a bit awkward.”

Get the Data

Data was taken from about 15 students. Unfortunately, such a small sample size will not be able to account for the whole student body but will represent it.
