Homestead, Florida is the Only City in Miami-Dade County Without a Shopping Mall

By Ana Duque

Homestead, Florida is a city of 68,438 people that continues to grow every year. Despite being the fifth most populated city in Miami-Dade County, the residents of Homestead have to drive around half an hour to the nearest mall and even more than that to the nearest major mall, The Falls.

For many people, going to the mall after a long week of work to eat, shop, and hang out with friends is both a social activity and a form of relaxation. This suburban custom should be accessible to all people, because there is nothing more American than over-consumption and unnecessarily large shopping centers.
